Leg Extensions

Muscles Worked: Legs, Quadriceps

Spotter Required: No

Minimum Equipment required: Leg extension attachment on a bench press

The Best Equipment to Use: Leg extension machine

Warming up: To warm up, perform 1 set of 15 - 20 repetitions with a light to moderate weight.

How often should I perform this exercise: Leg extensions can be performed on every leg workout, leg extensions are great for defining the quad muscles.

When should I perform this exercise: Because it is isolation exercise it should be performed after a compound exercise such as squatting.

How to do the exercise: Sit in a seat with your back straight, hooking your feet under the pad. Extend your legs out so they are almost straight, (never lock out your legs), hold for half a second, then slowly lower the weight back to the start position.

Mentality: Leg extensions are relatively easy, mainly because you’re using a machine to aid the movement, however dont let this put you off, leg extensions really help isolate the bottom of your quadriceps muscles and give you great muscle definition.
